Erth Engineering Grass Subsoiler Selected To Participate in Canadian Trial

The Panbuster Subsoiler manufactured by Co Down based Erth Engineering has been selected as one of only three machines worldwide to participate in a five-year trial to be conducted in Canada from July 2011.
The Centre d’expertise et de transfert en agriculture biologique et de proximite (Centre for the transfer of technology in organic farming) based in Quebec will be evaluating the work done by the subsoilers in a hay field, a pasture and an established green manure (clover or clover/ryegrass.) They will use two farms with no stones or very few, heavy clays, clay loams and sandy loams. The third farm has till soils, clay and sandy loams, stony.
The Panbuster was selected because the centre needed a model best able to handle stony conditions. The other two models selected are a Paraplow type and a Yeoman's.
David McCoubrey of Erth Engineering said “I understand that the centre in Quebec carried out extensive worldwide research via the internet to select the machines most suitable for their trial. I am delighted that the Panbuster has been selected for the trial. I believe this illustrates the perception and performance of the Panbuster in the market-place.”
The Panbuster is gaining a reputation on a global scale, with enquiries from all around the world. Erth Engineering is currently working a range of 4-6m folding machines to suit large scale users.
Update: The researcher heading the trials, has reported that early results show “for working in hay fields our machine is superior to the other two treatments being investigated”.
