"THE VARI-TILL
DRILL IS A RUGGED, RELIABLE, CLOSE-MOUNTED MACHINE CAPABLE OF HIGH
OUTPUTS IN ALL CONDITIONS"
This machine is not limited by wet conditions, where power
requirements tend to rise exponentially for trailed units, and it's
drilling tines will place seed when it is inconceivable to be drilling. |

Overall Concept
Particular attention is given to levelling because if the seedbed is not
level after any new generation drill then the seed will not have been
placed at the correct depth. The seed is band sown at the tip into a
micro seedbed produced by the tine and the following roller firms soil
around the seed for good contact. A following harrow prevents capping
and reduces evaporation from the surface.
The performance of this unit equates with any trailed unit and the
machine is suitable for all soil types even with high levels of trash.
Seedbed Preparation
The Vari-till drill has several optional tine frame/leveller assemblies
available for pre-cultivation. The pre-leveler tines burst the soil into
the leading leveler to provide a superb leveling and clod breaking
action. The leveler is hydraulically controlled from the cab.
Seed Placement
The strong seeding tines are fitted with hardened steel boots to
minimise wear and are located using the same bolt as the tip for ease
and speed of replacement. The boot has been designed to maximise band
sowing at the tip, as the greatest competition for any seedling is the
next seedling, and places the seed directly into fines produced by the
tine. Seeding depth for any frame is governed by two easily adjusted
calibrated jacks which adjust the large diameter rear roller. The
seeding tines are followed by either a reekie harrow or levelling tine
harrow to cover over seed and level the seedbed ahead of the roller. The
roller completes the job by firming soil around the seed and is followed
by a rear harrow which prevents capping and reduces moisture losses from
the surface.
