"TO GET CONSTANT CONSOLIDATION YOU MUST HAVE A LEVEL SURFACE"
Designed to cultivate, level & fIrm the soil profile, the Culti-Roll Press, like all Erth Engineering machines, is a modular build unit, designed so that each element is an integral part of the unit and that all elements complement each other.

Leading Tines & Levelling Board
The leading tines break up the soil and present loose material for the leveller to move and break up. They have 3 different height settings and angle adjustment to alter tine rake. The rake is adjusted by a turnbuckle from the levelling board. Adjustments to the board are complemented by adjustments to the tine rake. These adjustments can be geared so that a small movement in the levelling board causes a large tine movement or vice versa. The levelling board is adjusted by a turnbuckle from the main frame. A hydraulic ram can be fitted in exchange for the turnbuckle and allows hydraulic adjustment of levelling board and tines from the seat. This tine / levelling board set up allows flexible operation and provides an ideal surface for the next operations.

The Axle & Bearings
The Culti-Press has a 60mm axle made of tensile steel and threaded at each end so that it can be preloaded through belleville washers. This reduces axle and ring wear and provides positive drive from one ring to another giving improved performance in cloddy or sticky conditions. The axle tightness also enables much easier disassembly of the roll axle. A triple sealed, heavy duty bearing is used to minimise dirt entry to the bearing race. A belleville washer or metal disk is used on each side of the bearing to stop the bearing cutting into the rings.

Press Roll Section
The press roll section features a robust 27" press ring. A large ring reduces the rolling resistance (improving draft) and is more stable over a range of soil types. Rigid scrapers are used to clean the rings. The press rings crush clods giving consolidation at depth and on the surface whilst maintaining a weather-proof surface. The Culti-Press is designed to function as either a 'Double Press' (two axles of rings) or as a 'Press- Coil Combination' (a roll of press rings and a heavy duty 18" solid coil). The 'Double Press' option is generally favoured under heavy conditions where consolidation is required at depth. The 'Press-Coil Combination' is lighter so is not as effective at consolidation at depth however the coil gives admirable surface consolidation without capping and is very effective at breaking down clods presented by the rings. A 'Press-Coil Combination' is particularly suitable for medium and light soils.
